OOC: Content warnings | Opt-out

Warhammer 40k is not a pleasant place and naturally that means unpleasant topics will come up. Please use this post to opt-out of particular topics or from playing with Pythius completely.

Content Warnings
  • Warfare: Technically Pythius isn't a soldier so this can be toned way down.
  • Violence: As above.
  • Xenophobia: Alien species specific.
  • Body dysphoria/Willing amputation: Like all Mechanicus, Pythius views the flesh as weak and makes cybernetic adjustments to his own body.
  • Disturbing biological content: Pythius is a cyborg and that means he's a mishmash of organic and mechanical components literally fused and embedded together.
  • Use of corpses with consent: Servitors such as Pythius' servo-skull are from actual people and it is seen as a great honour to continue to serve after death.
  • Use of corpses without consent: Some servitors are created from unwilling criminals. This would be unlikely to come up as a topic unless pried for.

Integral Content Warnings (Topics that are core to Pythius' character)
  • Religious Fanaticism - Machine god religion: Pythius is a tech 'priest' so he cannot be played without his particular religious beliefs.

Let me know if you want to opt-out of any of the above or if you want to make sure it's toned down. Just pop a comment in and we can hash out any details as needed.

Recitations with mikoshi

As valuable as they are, Tech-priests are not common. For most of them this is an issue, as they struggle with the lack of common understanding and unified goal of efficiency, improvement, and complete devotion to the Omnissiah. This is not the case for Pythius. Explorators must be able to function as solitary units. They must know how to navigate a world devoid of holy doctrine and instead carry it with them. They are unusual among their fellow tech priests, and that's to say nothing of Pythius' Forgeworld.

Other Tech-priests would have dismissed V in a nanosecond. Pythius, however, knows that the most interesting discoveries can sometimes be found in exceptionally mundane places. He's run the maths. Which brings him to his meeting with V. If nothing else, it should be an interesting experiment to pass the time while he waits for the cogitators at base to finish the data scans he set them to run.

Pythius is not particularly tall, and certainly not brawny, but his augments mean that running into him by accident would hurt like a bitch. Red armour, prosthetic arms and extremely complex machinery making up his lower legs peer out from his long black duster, which itself is lined with a white trim of a cog design. It's a miracle that with the machinery attached to his back he doesn't seem at all hindered by the weight of everything he's carrying. In fact, the servo-skull which accompanies him might be more alarming as it immediately begins scanning V the moment he appears.

The Tech-priest doesn't care for pleasantries either. "Where is the ritual space?"

Character Info

Name: Pythius Eide
Rank: Explorator Archaeos
Faction: Adeptus Mechanicus (Imperium of Man)
Forge World: Stygies VIII
Servitor(s): Servo-skull 'Rissa'

Appearance:
Pythius wears the red of Mars in his armour and prosthetics, but the deep black robes of his Forge World. Like many explorators, he foregoes the traditional cassock and instead opts for a long, hooded duster with short, wide sleeves with simple clothing beneath. His arms and legs are taken up by augmentations, and he bears a large pack of machinery on his back which is often connected to his equipment at the time. Though not often on show, he boasts two Mechadendrites attached to his back. The Cog Mechanicum is visible in several places, including his pack and chest plate.

Both eyes are augmented and while both glow blue, only his left is fully enclosed in a lens. The lower half of his face, including his nose and mouth, are covered by a face mask with tubing and wires.

Voice:
Although Pythius will be speaking an understandable language (for convenience) in most instances, there are a couple of things to note:
  • His preferred language is Cant Mechanicus. This is a much easier and more efficient form of communication.
  • He knows both Low and High Gothic
  • Like many Mechanicus, he has a number of augmentations to facilitate speaking Cant Mechanicus. This means that even when speaking an 'understandable' language, he has a distinctly roboticised voice.
  • Approximation: Tiresus from Mechanicus.
This is the same as the servo-skull that accompanies him. (Voice approximation: Reditus from Mechanicus.)

Olfactory:
Pythius is accompanied by the distinct scent of metal, oil, and incense. Those with greater senses will also note a myriad of chemicals varying from those mechanical in nature, to preservatives and enhancements.

Augmentations:
Bionic eyes - Allows for sight on increased spectrums, aid in targeting and some magnification.
Mechadendrite - Singular mechadendrite, primary function  to aid in tasks requiring dexterity.
Throat - Augmented in order to converse efficiently in Cant Mechanicus.
Arms - Both arms are heavily augmented.
Legs - Partial augmentation. Heavily augmented from the knees down.

Equipment:
Omnisian Axe
Transonic Razor
Arc Pistol
